The Explicit Causal Inference in Personality research (ECIP) network is a network of personality researchers. It aims to reduce the divergence between theories in personality psychology - which are usually concerned with causal effects and mechanisms - and empirical findings - which often do not explicitly address causal relations. To do so, we elaborate on, apply, and demonstrate methods for drawing causal inferences in empirical research on personality.
We address methodological and conceptual issues surrounding causal personality research by developing methodological and conceptual guidelines and tutorials. The network’s outcomes further consist of empirical research projects that explicitly investigate causal effects involving personality, as well as pre-conference workshops for early career researchers.
The ECIP network is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) – 461127198.
